10 Essential Dribbling Drills for Youth Basketball Players

10 Essential Dribbling Drills for Youth Basketball Players

There are certain drills we want our youth players to do daily in their development and throughout their careers to reinforce their foundation. The ball handling routine, 10 Essential Dribbling Drills for Youth Players, is something I still do on a regular basis prior to my workout. The key is to not just do the drills, but to always remember their key points of emphasis while you execute the drill. Players should do the drills CORRECTLY with as much intensity as possible with good form. As soon as a player disengages their core or slips their hips they should stop and refocus on doing the drill with proper form for more game transfer.

Lets look at key points of emphasis for players as they begin to implement these drills into their daily routine:

  1. Good Athletic stance (proper alignment / load your feet)
  2. High Ball in Hand Time (hand absorb the ball read the defense)
  3. Tight to the Body (close the distance)
  4. Be Explosive (develop strength with ball and a explosive punch)

THIS WOULD BE A GREAT ROUTINE FOR COACHES TO IMPLEMENT QUICKLY BEFORE PRACTICE EVERYDAY. IT CAN BE PERFORMED IN LESS THAN 4 MINUTES. FOR A 9 MINUTE FAST PACE FREE REAL-TIME MORE ADVANCED ROUTINE EMAIL Eric@OtterBasketball.com
